The House
– Country house Arribes del Duero –
Casa Baltasara sits on the base of an old farmer’s house built in stone and wood. The orography of the land makes its construction peculiar being the first floor located below the street level and thus maintaining a constant temperature throughout the year.
With the renovation a second floor has been built and on this two attics that make up its peculiar interior design using the stone and part of the wood of the original construction.
Outside the house
This rural house in the Arribes del Duero is oriented to the north where the two windows of the living room/kitchen on the second floor and the two windows of the bedroom on the lower floor.
The stone walls are thick, the roof is made of wood and tiles, all very well insulated, which allows to maintain a stable temperature throughout the year especially on the lower floor.
There is a parking area just 15 meters from the house where we can leave the vehicles although in Pinilla de Fermoselle parking space has never been a topic of conversation. We are talking about a village with about 45 registered neighbors.
Inside the house
Casa Baltasara, a rural house in the Arribes del Duero, is divided into two floors and a double attic. On the lower floor, below street level, we find a large living room with fireplace and TV, a double bedroom, a bathroom and several rooms for storage. This floor is undoubtedly the most appreciated in the summer months. In addition, in the living room, you will be able to practice the game of darts, to which we are so fond of in the family.
On the second floor, already above the street level, are located the huge kitchen-living room, a large double bedroom and a bathroom.
Finally, and based on the design of the old houses with their overflow, we created two attics that house a room each. One is located above the kitchen-living room and a second loft above the bedroom on the second floor. This makes up an unconventional design of the house and away from the designs of the apartments of the cities, something that is always appreciated by visitors.
